Following the military ceremony, commanders, Fiesta royalty, government officials, and retired Army general officers attended a reception at the Quadrangle, Ft. Sam Houston's original establishment.
Lt. Gen. Guy Swan, commanding general of U.S. Army North, gave remarks at the ceremony. He and Lt. Gen. Rick Lynch, commanding general of IMCOM and Maj. Gen. Simeon Trombitas, commander of U.S. Army South gave prints of Ft. Sam as it appeared in 1862 to El Rey Feo, King Antonio and the Fiesta San Antonio Commission President Sam Bell Steves. In return, the kings and Steves gave military commanders gift baskets to demonstrate the good will and spirit of friensdhip that has long existed between the military and San Antonio community.
The 82nd Airborne Chorus from Ft. Bragg, NC also gave an a capella performance.
