About 100 Soldiers from the Virginia National Guard's 116th Brigade Combat Team were called to state active duty Dec. 25 in Norfolk, in response to a severe snowstorm which dropped a record amount of snow on the Hampton Roads area (pictured here). Elsewhere, hundreds of Guard Soldiers and Airmen from Delaware, Maryland, Massachusetts, North Carolina and Rhode Island responded to the snow emergency, rescuing stranded people as well as assisting in evacuations due to coastal flooding.
