Life in remote Alaska

Alaska Army National Guard Soldier Spc. David Smart fields questions about life in a remote Alaska village Oct. 26 during the Association of the U.S. Army Annual Meeting and Exposition in Washington, D.C. Smart demonstrated several traditional Alaska Native sporting events and described the subsistence hunting that is a way of life in many remote parts of Alaska. Smart hails from the village of Hooper Bay, on the Bering Sea coast, about 2,000 miles from Anchorage.
