Members of Estonia's Border Guard talk to Col. John Kem, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Europe District commander, following a ribbon-cutting ceremony Oct. 15, 2010. Members of the Estonian Police and Border Guard Bureau, U.S. Embassy Tallin, U.S. European Command and USACE Europe District officially opened a 10-by-10 meter, $240,000, illuminated helicopter landing pad in Varska, Estonia. The landing pad, funded by EUCOM and managed by USACE, will help Estonian police and border guard operate more efficiently due to the upgrades. Additionally, along with a new helicopter pad and the other upgrades north in Narva, the nearly $560,000 project includes an enclosed hanger and new surrounding pavement.
