A Canadian Soldier (left) looks through binoculars after hearing an explosion Oct. 7. An Afghan National Army soldier guards the observation point with him. Soldiers of the 1st Battalion, The Royal Canadian Regiment, various elements of the battle group, along with ANA and Afghan National Police, conduct partnered dismounted patrols and cordon and search missions on a regular basis around the Panjwai'i District in Kandahar province. Ultimately, the priority of ISAF (International Security Assistance Forces) is to build up the ANA, and ANP, and hand the security back to the Afghan people
