FORT SAM HOUSTON, Texas - Servicemen and women from U.S. Army North and Fort Sam Houston honor the colors before heading out in the pre-dawn hours Sept. 10 at the historic Quadrangle during Fort Sam Houston's inaugural Freedom Walk. Several hundred Fort Sam Houston service members and community members turned out for the Freedom Walk 2010 event to honor the victims of the 9/11 attacks and to support American service members. The event was hosted by Army North, the Army Service Component Command and Joint Forces Land Component Command to U.S. Northern Command. It conducts homeland defense, civil support operations and theater security cooperation activities in order to protect the American people and our way of life.
