Carlton Mudd, a commercial painter with Burrell Painting Co. of Fayetteville, N.C., uses a compressed air sprayer to apply a coat of paint to the fascia and gutters at Old Bowley School, Fort Bragg, N.C. The former elementary school is being renovated to serve as temporary office space for the headquarters staffs of U.S. Army Forces Command and U.S. Army Reserve Command, as they relocate to Fort Bragg from Fort McPherson, Ga. as directed by the Base Realignment and Closure legislation of 2005. Burrell Painting is one of several small local and regional firms working on the site, which has a direct, positive effect on the area's economy.
