U.S. Army's elite train Belizean Forces in effort to build partnership, military capacity to deter trafficking

BELIZE CITY, BELIZE- Belizean Cpl. Macario Salam (left) instructs one of his soldiers to make sight adjustments on his weapon and to control his breathing while shooting his rifle during a recent marksmanship exercise near Belize City, Belize. Salam and his soldiers assigned to the Belize Special Assignment Group (BSAG) are being advised by the Operational Detachment-Alpha, a detachment comprised of members of the U.S. Army's 7th Special Forces Group. The SF group is training and mentoring the BSAG in counter-narcotic operations in order to deter trafficking through Belize. Salam has served in the Belize Defence Force for 11 years.
