Machining wins out over cell phones - at least for two hours

Former Arsenal machinist Bob Rawls, right, volunteers his time to explain the machining process as it might have occured during the 1890s. Rawls is one of many former Arsenal employees who now volunteer their time to work in the Arsenal museum. For two hours recently, students and faculty from the Sullivan County BOCES (Board of Cooperative Education Services) visited the Watervliet Arsenal to reinforce their studies in machining. This was the first visit by this educational program to Watervliet. From Rawls' right, is BOCES senior Josh Beach; Dave Marr, BOCES guidance counselor; Mike Mullally, BOCES Custom Fabrication Machine Shop Instructor; BOCES senior Evan Decker; and BOCES junior Ryan Lowe.
