A Soldier pushes a parachute-less freedrop package from a helicopter during tests. Called the Freedrop Delivery System, the bundles of supplies up to 150 pounds can be released at about 70 knots airspeed from under 75 feet altitude. The Army's chief logistician said he hopes to have the new delivery system in Afghanistan by the end of summer.
