Stewart DPW wins national environmental award

Fort Stewart-Hunter Army Airfield's Environmental Division of the Directorate of Public Works proudly poses for a group photo after winning the 2009 Military Installation Conservation Partner Award. Stewart-Hunter's Environment Division partners with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Georgia Department of Natural Resources, the Nature Conservancy and other conservation stakeholders to improve the longleaf pine ecosystem and recovery of the red-cockaded woodpecker and Indigo snake. The award will be officially presented next month in Milwaukee, Wis.
