FORT CARSON, Colo. - Spc. Darnell Crater, tuba player, Ivy Division Band, 4th Infantry Division, captures the spirit and personae of Thurl Ravenscroft during a vocal performance of the contemporary classic "You're a Mean One, Mr. Grinch," during the Ivy Division Band Holiday Concert held at McMahon Auditorium Dec. 4. Crater, a tuba player from Lynwood, Ill., performed the song in the same manner as heard on the original television special "How the Grinch Stole Christmas," made famous by Ravenscroft, who used sprechgesang, singing and speaking vocals, throughout the musical arrangement. The Christmas favorite of adults and children alike was written by Theodor Geisel, also known as "Dr. Seuss," and the music composed by Albert Hague.
