Alpha Company Newsletter
The men of Alpha Company have moved from a successful Summer season into the Fall months. We had a very busy Summer highlighted by Spirit of America which saw us travel to Charleston, SC and Jacksonville, FL. We are also finishing our move from Fort McNair to Fort Myer so Alpha Company has had little time to rest but as always the Soldiers, NCOs and Officers have performed well and brought great credit to the Old Guard.
We started Spirit of America (SOA) right here in Washington, D.C. at the Verizon Center. Performing at a state of the art venue was a privilege and the experience was enriched by the thousands that came out to support us. We then moved onto Charleston followed by Jacksonville. SOA was a huge success and provided a wonderful opportunity to meet and interact with civilians from around the country.
We were afforded little time to rest as we began our COF move immediately upon our return from SOA. We are now completing the finishing touches on our move. It is great to be on Fort Myer with the rest of the 4th Battalion and we look forward to making this our new home in the wonderfully restored historic Building 249.
During the move we were also preparing for our Regimental MATEPs. MATEPs is a competition to recognize the best in the Old Guard at Memorial Affairs. The preparation we have put into the competition will set us up for success as we move into the Memorial Affairs season. We are confident that we will take top honors and wait expectantly to hear the results.
Thank you again to all the families who continue to support the wonderful Soldiers of Alpha Company. Your support allows us to continue to be able to conduct our wide range of missions to the highest standard. From all of us at Alpha Company, we wish you a wonderful holiday season and a merry Christmas.
