Furlough message from ANAD leaders

By U.S. ArmyMarch 28, 2013

ANNISTON ARMY DEPOT, Ala., March 21, 2013 -- We were notified today that the Office of the Secretary of Defense has directed the delay of the release of furlough proposal notices to all civilian employees for approximately two weeks. At this time, we do not expect to release furlough notices until April 5 or later.

Based on this delay and the required 30-day notification window, the start of the furloughs planned to begin April 26 will be delayed.

This delay will allow the Department of Defense to carefully analyze the impact of the Continuing Resolution legislation on the Department's resources.

The legislation could have some impact on the overall number of furlough days, but no decisions have been reached on this matter, especially since the legislation hasn't been signed into law. The number of furlough days at this point remains up to 22 for fiscal year 2013.

As soon as we are informed of any change to the number of days/hours of furlough for FY13, we will inform the workforce.
