March 28, 2013
FORT SILL, Okla. (March 28, 2013) -- Don't miss the annual Fort Sill Easter Egg Hunt, March 30 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Butner/Cowan Field. Enjoy inflatables, food and beverage concessions and more. The egg hunt starts at noon for all age groups.
The egg hunt, hosted by Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation, is open to all Fort Sill community children up to 11 years old.
The field will be divided into four age groups: 18 months to 3 years, 4-5 years, 6-8 years and 9-11 years. There will be a separate area set up for those families needing special accommodations.
The grounds will open at 11 a.m. to allow egg hunters ample time to position themselves for the hunt. There will be other activities available for kids including the Little Peoples Smoke House.
According to Shane Dunlevy, Community Recreation division chief, there will also be a grand prize drawing at the end of the event.
"Plan to stick around to meet our sponsors and enjoy the festivities," he said. Light concessions will be available for purchase onsite including hot dogs, beverages and candy.
"This year's event will be at Cowan/Butner Field off Randolph Road in front of the Patriot Club," he said. "There is plenty of room for all authorized Fort Sill patrons and we have 30,000 candy-filled plastic Easter eggs to ensure everyone has a good time and gets plenty of candy."
Parking for the event will be in the Patriot Club parking lot up to Butner Field. Overflow parking will be across Randolph Road behind Buildings 912, 913 and 914. Attendees should allow enough time to get from parking to the hunt.
"Event ambassadors will be onsite to assist our patrons during the hunt and at all activities," said Dunlevy.
"Great community partnerships with our sponsors allow us to continue to provide events of this caliber," said Andrew Duffy, FMWR sponsorship coordinator. "Stop by the many sponsor booths at this event including Laugh Out Loud to get a free $5 play-card, and also USA Discounters to register for a 32-inch TV."
Other sponsors for the event include: Wavel Wells DDS, Inc., Fort Sill Federal Credit Union, Jim Norton Toyota, Freedom Furniture and Electronics, EZ-GO Foods, A K Scoops and Fun, Chick-Fil-A and Harris Jewelry. Federal endorsement of sponsors not intended.
