FORT BELVOIR, Va. (June 12) - Waving miniature red, white and blue flags, residents of Fort Belvoir gathered at Pullen Field Thursday for a parade celebrating Flag Day and the U.S. ArmyAca,!a,,cs 233rd birthday.

Following behind Washington, D.C.Aca,!a,,cs IDEA Public Charter High School JROTC marching band, more than 100 adults and children showed their appreciation for the nationAca,!a,,cs oldest military branch by singing along to Aca,!A"The Army SongAca,!A? and several other patriotic tributes.

The event concluded when everyone formed a circle, raised their flags and sang happy birthday to the Army.

Organized by the Family Child Care program of Fort Belvoir Child and Youth Services, participants included family child care providers and the children attending their homes; preschool children from the South Post Child Development Center and School Age Services part day preschool.

The parade was one of three events that took place at Belvoir marking the occasion. Earlier, Army Chief of Staff Gen. George W. Casey, Jr. visited children at the postAca,!a,,cs Markham School Age Services building.

A ceremony honoring the ArmyAca,!a,,cs birthday and acknowledging Flag Day was also held in front of the installationAca,!a,,cs headquarters building.
