Marin is a perfect example for a woman who embodies this year's theme, "Women inspiring innovation through imagination: Celebrating women in science, technology, engineering and mathematics," said garrison commander Lt. Col. Michelle L. Bienias in her welcome remarks.

Marin explained how positive psychology can make a big difference in times of financial uncertainty and fluctuation, and referred to Shawn Achor's "happiness advantage."

"The silent 75 percent of long-term job success is based upon your ability to adapt: Optimism, social support creation and viewing stress as a challenge instead of a threat," Marin said. "You have a lot of power to influence and inspire people around you," Marin said in her motivational speech.

She encouraged attendees to make a mental shift and develop new habits to learn what activities boost positive emotions. In her remarks she referred to the U.S. Army's master resiliency training competencies like optimism, mental agility and strength of character. Marin concluded her inspirational speech with a quote by Oscar Wilde: "Be yourself, everyone else is already taken."

Samantha Wudel, American Red Cross station manager et USAG Bamberg, introduced the audience to several strong women of the Red Cross movement, like Clara Barton, a women's rights pioneer and founder of the American Red Cross.
