USAREUR is pleased to confirm that the U.S. Department of Defense has added Baumholder to the enduring base list for Europe. This information is contained in the annual DoD master plan that was recently submitted to Congress and is not tied to any specific unit relocation or force structure decision.

Other than Baumholder the following USAREUR communities were already designated as enduring locations; the GrafenwAfAPhr/Vilseck/Hohenfels (Germany) complex, Stuttgart, Ansbach, Kaiserslautern and Wiesbaden, Germany; Vicenza, Italy and Army communities located in the Benelux.

Retaining the Baumholder military community as an enduring location is a recognition of three important factors: quality joint-use training areas; maximizing the investment in 1+1 Single Soldier Quarters; and continuing the outstanding relationship with our German hosts, in particular our long-time friends in the Rhineland Palatinate.

Finally, confirmation of enduring status provides our Soldiers, families, civilian workforce, and our host nation partners a measure of predictability for the future.
