  • FORT SAM HOUSTON, Texas - Command Sgt. Maj. Brunk Conley, senior enlisted leader, U.S. Army National Guard, presents a challenge coin Feb. 12 to Sgt. 1st Class Wade Mitcheltree at the Warrior and Family Support Center. Conley, along with U.S. Air Force Chief Master Sgt. Denise Jelinski-Hall, senior enlisted leader, U.S. National Guard Bureau, visited with Wounded Warriors and care providers at the WFSC, the Center for the Intrepid, the San Antonio Military Medical Center and other locations. Micheltree, an infantryman in the 1st Battalion, 17th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 2nd Infantry Division, was injured in Afghanistan in August 2012.

  • FORT SAM HOUSTON, Texas - Command Sgt. Maj. Brunk Conley, senior enlisted leader, U.S. Army National Guard, says hello to "Bainbridge," one of the horses used in military funerals and parades, during a Feb. 12 visit to Army North's Military Honors Platoon. The horses, all French Percheron, are named after the previous Sergeants Major of the Army. Sgt. Maj. of the Army William Bainbridge was the fifth Sergeant Major of the Army; he served July 1975 to June 1979.
