YONGSAN GARRISON, Republic of Korea -- As Super Bowl XLVII was held in New Orleans, U.S. Army Garrison Yongsan threw a party for Service members, families and civilians at the R&R Bar and Grill, Feb.4.

Tim Higgs, the community recreations officer for for USAG Yongsan's Directorate of Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation, and his team put in lots of effort to make the party a success.

"We definitely wanted the party to be fun," Higgs said. "We did not want anybody to fall asleep or yawn between the game's quarters. So, we came up with some recreational events. Although it won't be able to satisfy everybody, I hope most of them would find it interesting."

The party included a touchdown ceremony contest, a speed quiz contest, and other recreational features with prizes going to the top performers. Not even the game's third quarter blackout could stop all the excitement.

"Right after the blackout that occurred at the beginning of third quarter, the game became so much better," said Chris Brown, a soldier from 8th Army. "Since then, I just couldn't take off my eyes off the screen. Also, the events that the party team offered were a lot of fun too."

USAG Yongsan's annual Super Bowl party was finished with much success making everyone look forward to next year's event.
