The U.S. Army Installation Management Command puts tremendous effort into leadership development. Inspired leadership at every level, across IMCOM, is our strength. Inspired leadership builds confidence in an organization and enables units to persevere through adversity and challenges. This month we honor two pivotal figures who displayed inspired leadership.

February marked the birth of two of our greatest presidents and leaders -- George Washington and Abraham Lincoln. The father of our country, first president and general, George Washington was highly regarded as a man of integrity and character, dedicated to the welfare and discipline of his troops. The 16th president, Abraham Lincoln, like Washington, was lauded for his honesty and moral fiber. As witnesses and participants in the struggles that shaped this democracy -- the Revolutionary and Civil Wars -- their strength and resilience are the embodiment of the American spirit.

Team, make this holiday weekend more than simply time off, make it time well spent. Whether in recreation, studies, volunteerism or gathering with friends or family, make it a worthwhile endeavor, with safety and responsibility guiding every action.

Most important, at a time when we face uncertainty and complex challenges, let a reflection on the lives of these two leaders, their character, sacrifice and service, inspire optimism and renew in each of us a passion for Soldiers and Families that is at the heart of what we do every day. Army strong!
