PRESIDIO OF MONTEREY, Calif. -- Army veteran and Dancing with the Stars winner J.R. Martinez gives the keynote address at the annual meeting of the Community Hospital of the Monterey Peninsula's foundation in Monterey Jan. 17.
After surviving an improvised explosive device in Iraq and enduring a long road to recovery from injuries, including burns that cover nearly 40 percent of his body, Martinez has gone on to find a career as an actor, motivational speaker and writer, as well as fame as the winner of the 13th season of Dancing with the Stars.
