FORT DRUM, N.Y. -- Soldiers throughout 10th Mountain Division (LI) will have an opportunity to tackle a series of winter-themed challenges Feb. 20-21 at the Childers Indoor Weapons Training Facility to honor past mountain Soldiers who made history.

Mountain warriors will compete on a 10K course consisting of snowshoe, cross-country ski, sled pull and marksmanship events in front of Family, friends, peers and the Fort Drum community.

Although 10th Sustainment Brigade will host the event, the challenge is open to every Soldier in the division. Teams will consist of three athletes and a Soldier designated to render support. An optional ski sprint will be available as an individual-Soldier event.

Soldiers may compete in the all-male, all-female or mixed team categories. Soldiers over 40 may compete in the male or female master category, and teams with a commander, and their first sergeant or command sergeant major, may compete in the command team category.

All athletes must complete the entire course to be eligible for an award.

"The 10th Sustainment Brigade team successfully tackled these events in 2011, and we challenge the rest of the brigades in the 10th Mountain Division to attempt to match the never-ending drive for excellence the Muleskinners have always displayed," said Lt. Col. Paul Dismer, deputy commander of 10th Sustainment Brigade.

There will be warming tents, music, hot beverages and soup available for everyone who attends the event.

Family readiness groups will conduct fundraisers throughout the day.
