ABERDEEN PROVING GROUND, Md. - More than 20 employees and two teams from the U.S. Army Research, Development and Engineering Command were honored by the Baltimore Federal Executive Board during its 41st Annual Excellence in Federal Career Awards Ceremony. The FEB recognition program is held during Public Service Recognition Week and recognizes federal employees for excellence in public service during the previous year.

RDECOM winners included employees from RDECOM headquarters, the U.S. Army Research Laboratory, U.S. Army Edgewood Chemical and Biological Center and the U.S. Army Materiel Systems Analysis Activity.

"Our people are absolutely superb and truly unsung heroes - they clearly deserve this recognition for their extraordinary service and performance," said RDECOM Commander Maj. Gen. Fred D. Robinson. "I have never served in an organization with more gifted people who are totally dedicated to the Warfighter and service to our Nation - I am honored to serve with each and every one of these professionals."

RDECOM Deputy to the Commander Gary P. Martin echoed the sentiments of the Commander: "The number of employees who were recognized as award winners is evidence of the quality employees we have within all elements of the command here at Aberdeen Proving Ground and indicative of the caliber of employees we have supporting our Army and our Nation."

The event was hosted by the Chair and the Vice-Chair of the FEB, Dr. George Wolohojian, Director, Department of Veterans Affairs Regional Office Baltimore and Colonel Jack Cunnane, Commander, Defense Contract Management Agency Maryland. Nearly 1,000 federal officials, employees and military service members, family members and guests attended.

Gold, Silver and Bronze awards for excellence in job performance in 2007 were awarded to 217 Maryland federal employees and military service members in nineteen different categories. A screening committee of federal employees assigned to agencies in Maryland selected the Silver Award finalists while a panel of private sector executives selected the Gold Award winners. Four RDECOM employees were honored with Gold Awards and seven employees and two teams received Silver Awards.
