ISAF play minor role in ANA operation
Maj. Gen. Robert Abrams, commander of Regional Command-South and 3rd Infantry Division, receives a brief from Afghan National Army soldiers Dec. 6, here, as Operation Zafar kicks off. During the two-day operation, ANA soldiers cleared 22 local villages and captured multiple improvised explosive device-making materials. The ANA planned, coordinated and executed the operation with minimal support from their International Security Assistance Force partners, Combined Task Force 4-2 (4th Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 2nd Infantry Division).
