WASHINGTON (Dec. 11, 2012) - - Family, friends and staff members of the Joint Task Force - National Capital Region for the 57th Presidential Inauguration celebrated the holiday season with a potluck lunch at the Fort Lesley J. McNair Gym.
"It's always a good idea to be with the people you work with outside the normal environment," said Capt. Luke Lisell, Army Logistics Branch. "It gives you a chance to meet some of the staff you don't meet on a daily basis and allows folks to make different and beneficial workplace connections you normally wouldn't get a chance to do."
Santa made an appearance and presented door prizes and mementos to the winners of the Holiday Door Decorations contest. Administration, J1, took top honors this year, with first runner up going to Operations/Intel Division, J32. Rounding out the competition; Provost Marshall/Police Department came in third, followed by Operations, J3, in fourth and Logistics, J4, landing in fifth place.
JTF-NCR, commanded by Maj. Gen. Michael S. Linnington, is a joint service command tasked by the Commander, United States Northern Command to provide all military ceremonial support for the 57th Presidential Inauguration. As a joint command, it includes members from all branches of the United States armed forces.
Linnington is also the commanding general of the Joint Force Headquarters - National Capital Region and the U.S. Army Military District Washington based at Fort McNair, DC.
