FORT BENNING, Ga. (Nov. 28, 2012) -- The Fort Benning Community Spouses Club invites the tricommunity area to tour 20 of Fort Benning's historic homes in this time-honored tradition.

The tour is self-guided and begins with a check-in at 2 p.m. on Sunday at Riverside, home of the Fort Benning commanding general. Tickets are $10 and the tour is open to those who are 16 and older.

Proceeds from the event help support the Community Spouses Club Scholarship and Community Grants Fund, providing nearly $3,000 to exceptional military students and community organizations that qualify.

"The Tour of Homes began as a tradition that allows military Families to learn about the historical significance of the buildings on Fort Benning. The past two years, we have opened the tour to the public and have received a wide interest, not only from history buffs, but also from those who are interested in the varying design and styling of the homes at Fort Benning," said Tina Sager, event chair. "Many of the residents who live on Fort Benning have traveled all over the country and abroad throughout the years and have acquired unique pieces of furniture and décor that make their homes so distinctive."

Tickets may be purchased at A Bit of Benning, Building 229 on Ingersoll Street or online at www.fortbenningcsc.org. An additional $1 processing fee applies for online registration.
