Pershing Elementary School wave the Stars and Stripes as "Fort Sam's Own" 323rd Army Band brass quintet plays patriotic music Nov. 6 during a Veterans' Day ceremony at the school. Soldiers with Headquarters, Headquarters Battalion, U.S. Army North (Fifth Army), who partner with the school, joined the students, faculty members, San Antonio Independent School District leaders, and local veterans in honoring those who have served or are currently serving in defense of the nation.

  • SAN ANTONIO - Col. Chaplain Gary Studniewski (left), along with  Lt. Col. Zoltan Krompecher and Command Sgt. Maj. Hu Rhodes, salute the nations colors Nov. 6  while the Pershing Elementary school choir sings the Star-Spangled Banner. Soldiers with Headquarters, Headquarters Battalion, U.S. Army North (Fifth Army), who partner with the school, joined the students, faculty members, San Antonio Independent School District leaders, and local veterans in honoring those who have served or are currently serving in defense of the nation. Studniewski serves as Army North's command chaplain; Krompecher is the commander of Headquarters and Headquarters Battalion, Army North; and Rhodes will soon assume the role as Army North's senior enlisted leader.
