ROCK ISLAND ARSENAL, Ill. -- Contracting and LOGCAP were the main topics during a three-day meeting that concluded Oct. 31 here in Building 103, Baylor Conference Room, as the Army makes plans for post-war Southwest Asia operations.
The meeting was hosted by the Program Management Office, LOGCAP, in coordination with Office of the Deputy Chief of Staff of the Army, G-4, Logistics. The event was named the Operational Contract Support/LOGCAP Worldwide Requirements Meeting.
The intent of the meeting was to provide a collaborative forum for key stakeholders within the OCS community, partner agencies and supported commands to discuss operational support requirements that can or may be met by OCS capabilities.
The event, with about 85 people attending daily, also served to define and develop techniques and procedures that ensure OCS is leveraged into the planning and execution of supported unit training events and future military operations. Focus was at the action officer level for planning.
Key stakeholders included DA G-4, CASCOM (Combined Arms Support Command), ECC (Expeditionary Contracting Command), ASCC G-4 (Army Service Component Command) and COCOM J-4 (Combatant Command) Joint Logistics representatives.
Key personnel participating included Brig. Gen. Edward F. Dorman III, director for logistics operations, readiness, force integration and strategy, Office of the Deputy Chief of Staff, G-4, U.S. Army, Washington, D.C.; Brig. Gen. Theodore C. Harrison, commanding general, Expeditionary Contracting Command, Redstone Arsenal, Ala.; Brig. Gen. Duane A. Gamble, deputy commanding general, Army Sustainment Command; Tommy L. Marks, executive director, LOGCAP, ASC; and D. Scott Welker, deputy to the commander, ASC.
