FORT BRAGG, N.C.-- Col. Teddy J. Byrd relinquished command of 207th Digital Liaison Detachment, 412th Theater Engineer Command, to Col. Christopher W. Stockel during a ceremony held here Oct. 6, 2012.
Brig. Gen. Douglas R. Satterfield, deputy commander of 412th TEC, offered special remarks and welcomed Stockel and his wife Lisa to the 412th Family. Satterfield noted Stockel as a "smart and experienced officer with a wealth of experience with troops."
Stockel's military career has encompassed a wide range of command and staff positions. His most recent assignment was Chief of Staff for the 52nd Civil Affairs Command.
Other key assignments included directing a Civil Military Operations Center in southern Iraq and later as the Government Team Chief for the 4th Infantry Division, Public Affairs Officer for the Combined Joint Special Operations Task Force -- Arabian Peninsula with Special Operations Command, served with the Department of State in their Counterterrorism bureau, and CMOC Commander & Director Strategy and Effects -- Operational Command Post.
Stockel earned a Bachelors of Arts in Mathematics and Computer Science from Trenton State College and studied abroad at the University of Frankfurt during his senior year. He also holds a Masters of Strategic Studies from the Army War College.
Stockel and his wife Lisa live in New Jersey. In his civilian career, he works for Federal Express as an operations manager at Newark International Airport.
