FORT DRUM, N.Y. --1st Squadron, 89th Cavalry Regiment medics practice suturing on synthetic tissue at the Medical Simulation Training Center Sept. 12 to prepare for an upcoming rotation to the National Training Center at Fort Irwin, Calif. Ten medics from the Wolverines attended the training. Medics, like the 1-89 Cavalry Soldiers, train on a variety of methods and materials in order to better perform their battlefield medical care techniques. The Wolverines are scheduled to deploy to Afghanistan in 2013.
