CAMP HUMPHREYS -- It was a sign-up day at the Super Gym on Aug. 25. Parents and their children spent time together, signed up for the Girl Scouts, and got to know more about the organization for their little ones.
"It's a big collection of different things we do at Girl Scouts meetings," stated Deana Porretta, the Overseas Community Chair for Humphreys Girl Scouts. "We are here to get new girls registered and provide necessary information."
During the orientation, little ladies had the opportunity to learn the Girl Scout Law, history and songs.
Patricia Williams, 7, was there with her father, Sgt. 1st Class Ralston Williams, from 348th Quartermaster Company.
"My dad bought me a new shirt that I wanted and mom signed me up for the Girl Scouts and I love it!" said Williams.
"It's a great experience for me" stated Sgt. 1st Class Ralston Williams, her father.
"Any time I have to spend with family, it's always a great time," he added.
"The Girl Scouts are a community enriched program which is used to enrich young girls' lives as well as benefit our community," stated Capt. Ledesma Terry from Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 2nd Combat Aviation Brigade.
The Girl Scouts are from Kindergarten to high school and they have some adult Girl Scouts as well. They learn what they can do to make the community better.
"I think it was a great turnout, a bunch of new registrations and adult volunteers" stated Porretta.
"Thank you to all the leaders who made this event possible and Girl Scouts. We had a lot of our Junior and Cadets help out," Porretta added.
