Scheduled tree work may impact traffic

FORT GEORGE G. MEADE, Md. (Sept. 9, 2012) -- The Directorate of Public Works and Melwood will be removing structurally unsound trees and limbs this week to improve Fort Meade. The work, which is scheduled on Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Saturday from 6:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., may cause temporary lane closures and delays.

Monday:

- Westbound Mapes Road between MacArthur Road and English Avenue (Turn lane will be closed in the morning from MacArthur onto Mapes)

- Inbound Mapes Gate from Route 32 (Small portion of one lane will be blocked for equipment staging)

Tuesday:

- 4407 Llewellyn Ave. (Majority of the back parking area near the playground will be closed will be closed Monday evening for initial tree work in the parking area before work begins in the fenced area near the building)

Wednesday:

- Behind building 4415 (No traffic concerns)

- Chisholm Road in front of buildings 219 and 229 (No traffic concerns)

Thursday:

- Gazebo behind building 2257 (No traffic concerns)

- Front of 4411 Claims Circle (No traffic concerns)

- Building 4407 (No traffic concerns)

Friday

- No work is scheduled.

Saturday:

- Southbound Annapolis Road across from buildings 2018 and 1978 (Lane shift)

- Westbound Reece Road across Annapolis Road (Traffic directed around work)
