ROCK ISLAND ARSENAL, Ill. -- The commanding general of the U.S. Army Sustainment Command honored a TACOM Life Cycle Management Command Rock Island employee for outstanding service in Iraq at a presentation held April 11 on Rock Island Arsenal.

Maj. Gen. Robert M. Radin presented a Superior Civilian Service Award to Craig Behne who volunteered to serve as TACOM LCMC senior command representative, 402nd Army Field Support Brigade at Logistics Support Area Anaconda, Balad, Iraq, from October 2007 through January 2008.

"If it were not for the volunteers, this would not work. Craig, I cannot thank you enough. The 402nd is hard work, but it's very rewarding work," said Radin.

Behne's recent duty in Iraq is his second deployment as the TACOM SCR. His first deployment was October 2003 through January 2004.

As SCR, Behne managed more than 60 Logistic Assistance Representatives in Iraq to maintain a link between the Brigade and TACOM LCMC for Soldier equipment readiness and support. He was also the 402nd AFSB's point of contact for all TACOM issues.

"You've got my admiration for what you did. Most importantly, Soldiers have left the battlefield alive because of what the 402nd does," Radin said.

Behne is director of the Non-Army Managed Items Product Support Integration Directorate at TACOM LCMC Rock Island. He is responsible for assuring maximum use of Army owned but other DOD service managed assets.

He has a master's in business administration from St. Ambrose University, a master's in science from East Texas State University and a bachelor's in science from Northeast Missouri State University.

He and his wife, Cindy Stark, a human resources manager at TACOM LCMC, have two children, Sheri and Scott.
