WASHINGTON, D.C. - Sixteen student teams from throughout the United States are first place regional winners in the 2007-2008 eCYBERMISSION competition. With this award, each team member will receive a $3,000 U.S. EE savings bond and will be invited to Washington, D.C., in June to compete in this year's National Judging and Educational Event.
eCYBERMISSION is a U.S. Army-sponsored, web-based science, math and technology competition that allows students in grades six through nine to compete for regional and national awards while working to solve problems in their community.
Northeast winners are:
6th Grade: Sink or Swim, All Saints Regional Catholic School, Manahawkin, N.J.
7th Grade: The Steelers, Middle School South, Howell, N.J.
8th Grade: The Energizers, All Saints Regional Catholic School, Manahawkin, N.J.
9th Grade: Dying for Popcorn, Pinelands Regional Junior High School, Tuckerton, N.J.
Northwest winners are:
6th Grade: CFL Quadcyclers, West Branch Middle School, West Branch, Iowa
7th Grade: 100% Natural, West Valley City School, Spokane, Wash.
8th Grade: CKC, West Valley City School, Spokane, Wash.
9th Grade: Snacks 4 Education, Fort Wayne Science Team, Fort Wayne, Ind.
Southeast winners are:
6th Grade: Science Geeks, South Forsyth Middle School, Cumming, Ga.
7th Grade: Greased Lightning, Rock Lake Middle School, Longwood, Fla.
8th Grade: SBS Bots, Stone Middle School, Melbourne, Fla.
9th Grade: Sleeping Beauties, Orangewood Christian School, Maitland, Fla.
Southwest winners are:
6th Grade: Sandpipers, Solana Pacific School, San Diego, Calif.
7th Grade: Sun Busters, Science Rocks U Club, Whiteface, Texas
8th Grade: The Funkadelic Four, The Harker School, San Jose, Calif.
9th Grade: AquaDucks, The Harker School, San Jose, Calif.

"These innovative students were selected from thousands of their peers and show the potential that our bright young Americans have as future leaders in science, math and technology."
This year, 1,763 teams, comprised of 6,382 students, submitted their research for judging. Now in its sixth year, eCYBERMISSION has awarded more than $4.6 million in U.S. EE Savings Bonds in support of the science, math and technology leaders of tomorrow. Since its inception, more than 46,000 students from across the country and in U.S. territories and Department of Defense Education Activity schools worldwide have participated in the competition.
