CAMP HUMPHREYS - The seventh annual Safety Day was held here Aug. 3.
The United States Army Garrison Humphreys Safety Office organized the event. The garrison's Safety Manager, Randy Turnage, talked about what the day meant.
"Today's theme is family safety and back-to-school, and it's all about bringing the families, Soldiers, and kids out here to instill a sense of summer safety and ensure we start out the new year with safety in mind," he said. "One of the things I'm really proud of is the number of bicycles we are going to give away during the day. Units and organizations donated 18 bicycles."
There were also diabetes and body fat percentage screenings, as well as education booths. There was something for attendees of all ages.
"This is fun," said Brain Laliberte. "We came her to let the kids get familiar with fire trucks and safety awareness. It looks like they have got everything set up here, and it looks great."
One of the youngsters in attendance, Emily Snow, also expressed her enthusiasm.
"This is pretty cool," she said "There are free bikes and a bunch of free stuff."
