CAMP SABALU-HARRISON, Afghanistan -- U.S. Marine Corps Sgt. Maj. Bryan Battaglia, senior enlisted advisor to the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, toured the Detention Facility in Parwan, July 2, 2012, to gain a better understanding of the strategic-level mission performed at the DFIP. As the senior noncommissioned officer in the U.S. Armed Forces, Battaglia serves as the principal military advisor to the CJCS and the Secretary of Defense on all matters involving joint and combined total force integration, utilization, health of the force and joint development for enlisted personnel. The tour was guided by U.S. Army Command Sgt. Maj. Dawn Rippelmeyer, senior enlisted advisor to the commander, Task Force Protector. Task Force Protector personnel oversee the secure, humane care, custody and control of the detainees within the facility.
