Dunwoody recognized for logistics excellence

FORT LEE, Va. (June 15, 2012) -- During an honors ceremony held at the Quartermaster Ball June 14, Gen. Ann E. Dunwoody, Army Materiel Command commanding general, was recognized for her professionalism and service to the nation.
Brig. Gen. Gwen Bingham, U.S. Army Quartermaster General and Quartermaster School commandant, and Command Sgt. Maj. James K. Sims, U.S. Army Quartermaster Regimental command sergeant major, presented her with the Gen. Brehon B. Somervell Medal of Excellence, which recognizes individuals who excel in the area of multifunctional logistical support.
She was also inducted into the QM Hall of Fame. Usually, HoF recipients have been out of the active service for three years however, by unanimous vote of the governing body, she was inducted this year in recognition of her unprecedented achievements.
Dunwoody received a direct commission as a quartermaster officer in 1975. She has commanded at every level and held key staff assignments throughout her career. At AMC, she commands one of the Army's largest organizations with more than 69,000 employees. She is the QM Corps most senior officer.
This ceremony was one of many activities held at Fort Lee during the 2012 Quartermaster Symposium.
