Provost Marshal retires after 27 years of service

Colonel Steven M. Lynch retired as the Provost Marshal of the Joint Force Headquarters-National Capital Region and The U.S. Army Military District of Washington after 27 years of service on May 17, 2012 in a ceremony at Joint Base Myer - Henderson Hall, hosted by Maj. Gen. Michael S. Linnington, commanding general, JFHQ-NCR/MDW. Lynch was joined by his family and friends.

Lynch, a native of Pennsylvania holds a bachelor's degree in criminal justice administration from York College of Pennsylvania and was commissioned a second lieutenant in 1985.

He completed the Military Police Advance Course, Command and General Staff College, and holds a master's degree in Public Administration from Troy State University, Troy, Alabama.

His command assignments span the full spectrum of Military Police Regimental operations (combat support, corrections, and law enforcement).

Lynch became Provost Marshal of the JFHQ-NCR/MDW in 2008 after commanding the Department of Defense Criminal Investigation Task Force (CITF), U.S Army Criminal Investigation Command, Fort Belvoir, Virginia--a joint unit leveraging law enforcement intelligence operations to conduct and complete terror investigations for the Department of Defense.

Lynch and his family will be staying in the Virginia area.
