WHAT: U.S. Army Contracting Command Assumption of Command Ceremony

WHERE: MWR Activity Field, Redstone Arsenal, Ala.

WHEN: Thursday, May 17, 2012, 10 a.m. CDT. Media should arrive at Gate 10 Patton Road no later than 9:15 a.m. on Thursday, May 17.

REDSTONE ARSENAL, Ala -- Gen. Ann E. Dunwoody, Army Material Command commanding general, will officiate at an Army Contracting Command assumption of command ceremony here Thursday, May 17.

Maj. Gen. Camille M. Nichols will become ACC's first commanding general. She comes to Redstone from Fort Belvoir, Va. where she was Program Executive Officer, PEO Soldier. Nichols has also served as commander, Joint Contracting Command, U.S. Forces -- Iraq and was the first commanding general of the Expeditionary Contracting Command, one of ACC's two subordinate commands. She has more than 20 years experience in Department of Defense acquisition.

Nichols will succeed Carol E. Lowman, who is relinquishing her duties as executive director to become deputy to the commanding general.

ACC provides global contracting support to Soldiers through the full spectrum of military operations. ACC consists of more than 6,300 military and civilian personnel who award and manage more than 198,000 contract actions annually valued at more than $86.9 billion.
