The U.S. Army Communications-Electronics Command's Logistics and Readiness Center recently rolled out the new Long Supply Review, or LSR, a new web tool built by the CECOM Logistics and Readiness Center headquarters web team, completed in this past February.

Previously, all supply reviews were completed using the Excel-based Long Supply Review tool, which made these reviews a labor intensive process. The Excel version was used in the review process since 2009, according to LRC Logistics System & Support Division

The web-based tool is now utilized for all inventory reviews, including the monthly South West Asia Excess Drawdown, Non-Army Managed Inventory, Non-Tactical SSAs and Defense Logistics Agency Forward Deployed Depots, Excess Reviews, and the Dormant Review. The recent upgrade to the web-based platform provides Item Managers the ability to seamlessly move from answering for an item to selecting the appropriate batches. This enables IMs to know exactly which batches are being targeted for disposal, transfer, or retention.

The web tool produces four reports. The LSR report, filterable by analyst code, allows IMs and management the ability to see which items have been worked, the answer provided and the result of that answer.

Disposal and Transfer Reports are outputs that are loaded into LMP by the LEO Sales and Distribution Branch, which cuts down on workload.

The fourth report is based on the answers that are given by the IM.

The LRC web team's development of the LSR web tool has streamlined the review STRAT Long Supply/Excess Materials and inventory located at Single Stock Fund Storage Facilities and has also aided in the process of reducing excess inventory, storage costs, warehouse overcrowding, and improved the positioning of materials in the correct storage facilities.

The tool's ability to provide real time data of the inventory levels simplifies the previous Excel-based processes, leading to a reduction in the man-hours associated with inventory review. CECOM's success with the LSR tool has prompted both AMCOM and TACOM LCMCs to evaluated using the tool for their respective inventory reviews.
