JFHQ-NCR Marine Named Officer of the Year
Capt. Austin Krissoff is presented the Joint Service Commendation Medal by Gen. Charles H. Jacoby, Jr., USNORTHCOM commanding general and USNORTHCOM senior enlisted advisor Command Sgt. Maj. Robert Winzenried, during a ceremony held early April announcing the NORTHCOM annual competition winners.

Congratulations to Marine Capt. Austin Krissoff on winning the U.S. Northern Command's (NORTHCOM) Company Grade Officer of the Year award. Krissoff is the Senior Intelligence Analyst for a joint analytical team assigned to Joint Force Headquarters - National Capital Region and U.S. Army Military District of Washington (JFHQ-NCR/MDW) at Fort McNair, D.C.

Krissoff was also presented the Joint Service Commendation Medal by Gen. Charles H. Jacoby, Jr., USNORTHCOM commanding general and Command Sgt. Maj. Robert Winzenried, USNORTHCOM's senior enlisted advisor during a ceremony held earlier in April.

USNORTHCOM was established Oct. 1, 2002 to provide command and control of Department of Defense homeland defense efforts and to coordinate defense support of civil authorities nationwide.

USNORTHCOM's subordinate command, JFHQ-NCR, is responsible for protecting the District of Columbia and neighboring counties and cities of Maryland and Virginia, including Loudon, Fairfax and Prince William Counties in Virginia. The command draws together the existing resources of the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, Coast Guard and NORAD into a single point headquarters for planning, coordination and execution of the mission in the National Capital Region.
