'Backbone of the Army' to get new training facility
Lt. Gen. Frank G. Helmick, fourth from right, XVIII Airborne Corps and Fort Bragg commanding general, helped break ground at the site of the future Noncommissioned Officer Academy April 20. Helmick was joined by Col. Steven Sicinski, Fort Bragg Garrison commander, Command Sgt. Maj. Samuel Campbell, Fort Bragg Garrison command sergeant major, Command Sgt. Maj. Nicolino Parisi, NCO Academy commandant, Command Sgt. Maj. Roger Howard, XVIII Airborne Corps command sergeant major and retired Command Sgt. Maj. David Clark, the first NCO Academy enlisted commandant. "The noncommissioned officers are the backbone of our Army. They are what makes our Army great, now they will be in state of the art facilities manned by the best instructors" Helmick said.
