YONGSAN GARRISON, Republic of Korea -- The Pacific Region Mentoring Program, a program started by Installation Management Command to help train it's employees, has selected Jim North, a strategic planning specialist with the USAG Yongsan Plans, Analysis and Integration office as a mentor in their program.

Signed by Debra Zedalis, the Director for IMCOM Pacific, North was recognized for his outstanding work in garrison by offering him the chance to pass on his skills and knowledge to a newer employee in the USAG Daegu area.

The program gives the mentor and mentee a certain set of benchmarks to meet, allowing them to collaborate to complete the task at hand. The ultimate goals of the program are to help the mentee grow and help the mentor share his or her experiences, while forming a bond of trust.

North, who volunteered for the program, said that the program helps the organization by helping the people in the organization grow and better fulfill the mission. Being selected for the program was a note of pride for North.

"It feels great. That's what we are here to do," North said. "If you don't share your knowledge and your experiences, then you've failed the program. You've failed your obligation in an organization to make the organization better."

So far it's only been a few weeks since their selection, which means that the program is just beginning for North and his mentee. Later on, he is scheduled to meet with his mentee to discuss the goals of the program, as well as the guidance required for the program.
