Post reclamation sale saves Soldiers money

FORT BENNING, Ga. -- Soldiers who want to save money on uniforms and other Army gear should check out the post reclamation sale the first Friday of every month. Fort Benning's next reclamation sale begins at 8 a.m. March 2 at the Salie Complex, Building 9057, 6883 Ivey Road.

Soldiers can buy ACUs, pants, gloves, PT shirts, duffel bags, boots and more.

"It was designed to save the Soldiers at least 25 percent off the unit price," said Jacqueline Dillard, ITT Exelis material coordinator. "And it's 50 percent less than what the military clothing store sells (it for)."

Items are limited to two sets of clothing and one pair of boots, per person, to allow everyone an opportunity to purchase items, Dillard said.

Those interested are able to purchase up to $300 worth of items. Cash is the only form of payment accepted. Credit cards and checks are not accepted.

The reclamation sale is open to active-duty military, authorized retirees and National Guard or Army Reservists on active duty. National Guard and Army Reservists must have their active-duty orders.

Family members are permitted to purchase items as long as they have their spouse's military ID card, she said.

The first hour is allotted to Soldiers in the rank of staff sergeant and below, and after 9 a.m. the sale is open to all authorized buyers.

At February's reclamation, nearly 500 people took advantage of the sale, so the parking lots get full, she said. Parking is allowed along the road but not inside the gate. For more information, call 706-545-1972 or 706-545-1104.
