WEST POINT, N.Y., -- Cake…Punch…Balloons…Oh my! Keller Army Community Hospital celebrated babies born in the facility last quarter during its first Baby Alumni Birthday Bash, Thursday, Jan. 19.

Several parents, families and friends from the most recent child birthing class joined Keller staff for an evening of fun, festivities and parenting advice. In between hugs, smiles and celebrating the newest attentions to the Keller family, experienced parents gave expecting parents advice pertaining to pregnancy topics and the delivery experience at Keller.

The following are quotes from attendees during the open-discussion among all parents and staff:

"Take an epidural," one mom yelled from the group.

"I wish I would have known which area to push from during delivery," said another mom comically.

"I wish I wasn't so nervous," said a dad from the group.

"You don't have anything to worry about! My wife's delivery was seamless," said Maj. Matthew Dawson, a recently new father. "The nurses and doctors here pay attention to every, little detail."

"As the commander of this hospital you don't understand how proud I am to hear such wonderful and kind words from you all on the quality and level of care you received during your stay with us," said Col. Beverly Land, Keller Army Community Hospital commander. "We understand that child birth is an intimate and special experience for a family and are pleased that you were satisfied with our staff."

Many parents in attendance, who had already gone through the birthing process, were eager to be reunited with those who experienced the hospital's six-week child birthing classes.

The child birthing class consisted of the following topics:

• Orientation on Keller

• Having your baby at Keller

• Pain management

• Unexpected outcomes

• Newborn Care

• Breast and Bottle feeding

The evening ended with a group photo, showing many of its honorees vastly asleep.
