ABERDEEN PROVING GROUND, Md. - The folks at Aberdeen Proving Ground's Family, Morale, Welfare and Recreation were in high spirits during their annual holiday celebrations and fun runs Dec. 6 and 7. More than 400 people from around APG attended the festivities at the APG North and South recreation centers. Prior to the celebrations, approximately 60 attendees took part in the traditional fun runs around APG that were more about holiday spirit than competition.
Both events offered fun for the entire family such as holiday arts and crafts, face paintings, balloon sculpting, book readings, caricature paintings and pictures with Santa Claus.
Attendees were also given the chance to sing holiday songs on stage in front of Family and friends.
The evenings were kicked off with tree lighting ceremonies, one hosted by APG senior leader Maj. Gen. Nick Justice and APG Garrison Commander Col. Orlando Ortiz. The events featured gingerbread house contests in which winners were selected based on creativity and age groups. Although the two nights of holiday festivities may have come and gone, it doesn't mean the fun has to end this holiday season.
