Volunteer replacement leaders and in-processing Soldiers spent time serving meals on Thanksgiving Day during the second annual Feed the Veterans program Nov. 24 at Barbers Point, Hawaii.
The veterans were part of the USA Vets program at Kalaeloa, Hawaii a non-profit organization that provides affordable, long-term housing for veterans.
Thanksgiving meals, drinks and dessert were provided by Fairway Valley Golf Club. Twenty-five Soldiers and two spouses from the 8th Theater Sustainment Command and 25th Infantry Division served meals and spent time with over 150 veterans, said Replacement Detachment Commander, Capt. Jeremy Bourque.
Entertainment was provided by hula dance squad, Halau O Mokulehua, and some of our Soldiers even participated in the hula, said, Bourque .
"It was a really nice way to pay respect to our veterans," said Sgt. Clint Baltzly. The event was handled very well.
"It was a great way for our Soldiers to meet and give thanks to veterans of past conflicts. Some of the veterans were from Iraq and Afghanistan," said Bourque.
