SCOTT AIR FORCE BASE, Ill. - Nomination packages are now being accepted for the Military Surface Deployment and Distribution Command's 2008 Quality Award Program competition honoring Department of Defense approved transportation providers in all modes and services for sustained exceptional performance throughout 2007.

More information and instructions for nominating individuals will be online this year at the SDDC Web site, www.sddc.army.mil.

Maj. Gen. Kathleen M. Gainey, commanding general of SDDC, will present the awards during a special dinner as a finale to SDDC's Training Symposium, April 30, 2008.

The Quality Award honors the commercial industry for their commitment to the excellence in service to the DoD.

Nominations are encouraged and welcomed by all DOD shippers and should be in the form of a brief, one-page narrative justification with a cover sheet. It must include a description of the firm's responsiveness to DoD requirements, and the potential for wide applicability of their innovations.

A panel of HQ SDDC staff principles will evaluate each nomination on the following factors:

a. Customer Service: Quality of communications, efficiency of service, satisfaction of special needs, resolution of customer needs, teamwork, professionalism and appearance, overall service and accomplishments.

b. Innovation: Improvement of service quality and cost savings.

c. Scope of Contribution: Local impact and wider applicability.

SDDC strongly encourages nominators to look at firms providing service and nominate those who provide the highest quality of transportation service to installations. The deadline for submission is Feb. 15.

This year, questions and nominations should be sent directly to Angela Wolfe by email at WolfeA@sddc.army.mil or by fax at DSN: 826-7995 or COM: 757-878-7995.
