FORT RUCKER, Ala. (Nov. 21, 2011) -- The safety video "Pass it On," produced by the U.S. Army Combat Readiness/Safety Center here won a first-place award at the 22nd International Military Film Festival held in Bracciano, Italy, Nov. 7-13.
"This award demonstrates the level of production our team can achieve for the products we supply to support the Army Safety Program," said Michael Negard, public affairs officer, U.S. Army Combat Readiness/Safety Center. "We're honored to receive this award from such a high level of competition."
This year's theme at the competition was 'Armed Forces and Peoples,' and 'Pass it On' was named the top entry in the "Promotions" category. The production was awarded the Crest of the Italian Army Support Units Commander.
A representative of DOD's Defense Media Activity was present to accept the award on behalf of the USACR/Safety Center from the commandant of the Italian Army Field Artillery School. Joe Harris, chief of Visual Information policy and programs, said he learned quite a bit as a juror at the festival. He said not only did NATO countries participate, but submissions were also sent by China, Argentina, Brazil, Korea and Pakistan.
"It was no cake walk for the United States," Harris said.
The U.S. safety video also received a special panel award of a cup from the mayor of Bracciano for "Best Selections" for overall technical excellence among the productions awarded to DOD.
